In this third episode of the Strymon Tech Corner series, we show how to hook up a standard volume pedal as an expression pedal with a TRS insert cable and demonstrate with TimeLine. See our blog post: http://www.strymon.net/?p=2994
@JCHollis2007 It needs to be a passive volume pedal (meaning there are no active electronics inside.) The VP Jr "for active electronics" will work because it's actually still a passive pedal.
Does this work on the El Capistan?

@themodularmodular It's a standard TRS insert cable like the Hosa STP-201.

Does it matter if the vp jr is passive or active? Also is the range pretty dynamic or abrupt? Thanks for the vid
