What sets Curiosity apart from other Mars Rovers?

the design of the rover is poor in my view due to its not very well protected from elements it should be made something like a dome or sphere with instruments on the inside teh auto opens a slot arm comes out after the correct instrument has been selected internally on a rotating rail. when weather/dust is bad it can get low to the ground and everything is protected.

I don't understand are Humans going to mars or is it just some spacecraft with no humans included? This sounds really REALLY cool but i hope humans are going that would be extremely interesting!!!

@mrswinkyuk Rule 2 NO pseudoscience...........those practicing will be put on a space craft and shot into the sun

@mrswinkyuk Or beheaded and bodies used for the Greater Good of Science and Understanding.....

I think that since there is still a bit oxygen left on Mars, it was once like Earth, same as Earth, but one species created too much CO2 and they died out. Since probes have found a fossil of a life form from Mars, dated back to around the time humans appeared on Earth, that we are evolved from them because they came to Earth to survive their dying planet.

@cud0s I wonder if they could have fitted some kind of duster attachment to their existing equipment. Something that could be used not only for the solar panels but also for dusting off an area they need to look at or work on. It just seems like there should be hundreds of ways to dust off the panels using what they already have but possibly arranged a little different or maybe add just a tiny bit of weight by adding an extra attachment.

@troydeancarpenter after some browsing i found this:
In an interview on NPR a couple of years ago, Steve Squyres was asked why they didn't have "windshield wipers" on the solar cells. He said they had considered it, but the extra weight would have cost too much. There is always a tradeoff between weight and cost in spacecraft launches.

@cud0s I'm really surprised that they didn't take dust into consideration. There are always dust storms on mars and if I remember correctly they were having issues with dust on the panels within the initial 3 to 4 months.
Rule 1 for the new colony: Religion is banned. Those practicing it will be deported back to earth.

@bullamarta Excellent idea. I propose an ammendment to that. Those practicing or spreadng psudoscience will have to rely on Homeopathy for all ailments.
