Kahinakuya - stop motion short

A young girl is led out of the darkness of her despairing void by her dream guardian, a creature named Kahinakuya. (Ka-heen-ah-kuu-yah).

This was my second project in Stop Motion I class at SCAD college. I worked by myself on this one, and designed, constructed, and animated two characters. One was claymation with faceplates and fabric clothes, the other was a 'plushie puppet' made from sewn and stuffed fabric over the wire skeleton (think a plushie for stop motion :P ). For an idea of scale, Kahinakuya is about 13 inches tall.

The set was nothing more than black base with black fabric all around the sides, and some fancy lighting (harder to set up that spotlight look than you think. o_o ).

Music is all from various tracks of the Arjuna soundtrack by Yoko Kanno, mixed together by me. Sound effects are all samples or royalty free.

And I need to inform that I somehow got my professor's name wrong in the credits it's Professor Hal MILES, I don't know where I came up with 'Sparks'... O__o Well, I think I did those credits at like 5 in the morning when I was finnishing this in time for class...so that may be why. XD I'll fix it in my own copy but it's impossible for me to reuplod it here without losing all your comments and stuff.

X3 thank you so much! Haha Kahinakuya hangs out with my dolls. :P The puppet is 12" tall in real life. Being a stopmo puppet she is actually very stiffly wired despite being very cuddly looking and made from soft fabrics :D I hope to make a real plush of her someday that is huggable! X33

espero que sigas realizando animaciones en stop motion, lastima que sea un recurso audiovisual casi inexistente el dia de hoy.

Lo peor es que ya casi no quedan animadores ni estudios que realicen producciones con este tipo de tecnicas.
