Vancouver 2010: Own the Podium

Own the Podium 2010 (OTP) is a sport technical initiative designed to help Canada become the number one nation in terms of medals won at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, and to place in the top three countries overall at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

The initiative is a collaborative effort supported by all 13 of Canadas winter National Sport Federations and the major winter sport partners, including Sport Canada, the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Paralympic Committee and VANOC.

The focus of the initiative is to provide additional resources and high-performance programming to Canadian athletes, coaches and support personnel to help the countrys athletes achieve podium success in 2010.

VANOC committed to raise half of the $110 million required to help achieve the goals of podium success for 2010 through its sponsors, including commitments from the Province of British Columbia, and other provinces and territories participating in the Games through the Contributing Province/Territory Program (CPTP). The Government of Canada committed the remaining $55 million.

very disgraceful performance by canadian athletes, with all the money your cdn govt put into own the podium , canada ended up with only 2 more medals then the previous olympics in torino.and in the end as usual the americans owned the podium!!!!

You do realize that we owned the gold medal podium, and to the rest of the world that's what counts. ALL countries in Europe and Asia have Canada ranked #1 in their list because of our WINTER OLYMPIC RECORD with 14 golds. Only in Canada and the United States are the rankings calculated according to medal totals and not golds. Own the Podium was a huge success.

The pressure on Canada's hockey teams will be enormous. It will be something special when the first Canadian Olympian wins gold on home soil, and I believe the third time will be the charm.

The venues are really spectacular. Should be a great Games.

@pumpher9 yea but we have most gold. america can have like 10 bronze and we have 1 gold...we still pwn. im proud of canada. we came in 3rd! <3<3 america really only had bronze...more bronze then silver and gold.. i think they need to count by gold not the other medals. its not really fair..

Isn't the fun of watching the Olympics, seeing who wins and how? If you knew who wins every medal, I doubt it would be as fun to watch what time or score they got the medal in.

As long as Ole Einar Bjorndalen becaomes the greatest ever in Sochi I don't care what happens.
