@apatheticempathy Indeed - I second that. Get them to tell you their stories.

Had an uncle who was part of a bomber crew that was shot down over occupied France during WWII. He made it back to England thanks to French Underground.

He would never talk about what happened. No idea what kind of bomber or anything else. He's dead now. I wish we could have found some gentle way of getting him to tell us more of that story.

Were losing so many of these fine souls of this time period. Please if you know someone of this era, take the time to talk to them and learn thier history. Its priceless. Although WW2 was hell, the world was a more honest, pure time back them. Give them a hug for me. I miss my father F4U Corsair pilot and mother oh so much. God Bless them all.

In spite of all the hardships, were our lives richer and better in those dark days of the war? How many youngsters today can even relate to those times or appreciate what these songs were all about.

Anne was a great vocalist. There was a WWII movie called "Wing and

a Prayer". Borrowed the title from the song. Don Ameche was the

star.

My aunts used to sing this song as I was growing up in marvelous harmony and at a slower tempo. It's so wonderful being able to hear the original recording, though I'll admit I feel my aunts sing it better. lol!

so great. the music of this time can really bring a small idea of sitting and listening to a radio and missing home. Special for those of use who have been in the miltary and away from home....Thank you for posting this.
