The MTD Kingston Heir looks kinda groovy in the hand, and sounds great in the ear, so it's two for two. Owen gives us a firsthand look and listen at this Michael Tobias-designed, foreign-made, affordable bass, which isn't perfect, but darn near close for the money.

  • I had the 5 string version for a while, it was great for slap because of the wide spacing, great price, nice deep tone. My only gripe was that it was quite noisy when turning up the treble or mid knobs. Got rid of it for a Music Man Classic 5 String Stingray, don't miss the MTD but I did enjoy it when I had it.

  • I had a 5-string Kingston Heir, with the Bartolini pre-amp - absolutely adored it! Far too much bass for my needs, all told - very nice for those going down the funk line.

  • how much does this bass weigh exactly? love the finish on maple neck!!
