Filmed as part of the 2011 Ideas Festival, Brisbane. Each year, the homeless population of South East Queensland steadily increases. More than one third of Brisbane's homeless population is under the age of 25 and providing basic needs, such as food, shelter and safety is only part of the solution. Why does homelessness exist in our affluent city? Do people really need to live on the streets? Anthony Ryan, founder of Eddies Street Van, challenges the belief that Brisbane is poverty-free and that homelessness is always a lifestyle of choice.
