This is another oldie. Straight out of the Depression ... the one in the 30's ... not the current.
My sister sings in this and I chuck in a bit of harmony and sing chords. Dad swings this one, too ... and throws in a bit of scat singing. I hear wood crackling in this so this was probably recorded at our camp.
Nobody swings it better. There's an excuse as to why we don't sing the lyrics. Half the time we didn't remember them because dad could play straight through for two hours or more and never repeat the same song. One after another, changing keys on the fly, up or down a half tone for the arrangement. Back in those days we should have gone for a Guiness' record.
In fact, I think I'm one of the few people my age that knows/knew songs off the old cylinder records ... I just grew up with them and learned by osmosis.
