The next two Mario Kart Wii vids will show you why Battle Mode isn't as popular as Vs. Mode. It just plain sucks.
1.) Coin Runners - Block Plaza I cannot stand this map. All the paths are so narrow so that not bumping into somebody else becomes virtually impossible. Throw in the fact that you have to slow down at times to pick up coins and you can forget about it. I'd preferably play any other map in Battle Mode over this one. To sum it all up for you, I did terrible.
2.) Balloon Battle - GCN Cookie Land This is another course that sucks for Coin Collectors, but I love it for Balloon Battle. The reason being that I can drift around the whole map, rarely get hit and hit others often. I mean, just by drifting around Cookie Land I score eight points (but lost one since I got hit three times). I'd have to say that my teammates and I clean up quite well here.

u are right about the Block Plaza level it is worse than the N64 version. which had 3 layers u can drive on instead of the mere 2 in this one and the N64 wasn't being so kill happy by making gigantuous holes in the ground <,<
