Now were just back to the familiar arguments; I trust the conservatives on the economy, law & order, defence and core family values. I dont trust them on the Health service, fairer tax system, employment law, and investment in our infrastructure. I also have a problem with their policies on Europe and immigration.
I look at my list and I see reasons to vote con, some for Lib and a few for UKIP & BNP. But Im not a happy bunny

We had a solid economy in 1997 the tories prepared a safe hand over to labour for the country. Brown wont even give us an election date and is determined to create a poison chalice, political agenda at UK's expense. As for mining, Thatcher gave Nissan to Sunderland, The best plant in Europe. As for tory toff comments, don't fall for the Labour spin and do your homework. Its farcical, unbelievable!! Thatcher was a strong leader with BRITISH values overall. We actually need a Thatcher right now.

I think the most disastrous policy was to insure bank deposits, it's a bit like insuring someone for speeding when driving. But to say the Banks are deregulated is utter nonsense, just about everything in banking is regulated, I assure you.

(My original mistake) I hated the conservatives for what they did to our mining communities. But that is nothing compared to the sheer contempt I have now for new labour. I look at Cameron with his hug a hoodie and I see Blair in a blue suit. I admire Clarke but I just feel theyre pissing up by back while telling me its raining. Conservatives maybe the best option to dig us out of the shit, but I dont have to like it!!!

I agree with you on Clinton & Brown. They don't have the same understanding of the markets as Republicans or Conservatives. However, Thatcher and Reagan shifting the tax burden away from the richest 0.5% and on to the middle classes is history!
This comment has received too many negative votes show
It was Thatcher and Bush who deregulated the banks. Despite the eloquent words from Clarke they would increase the tax burden on the lower classes. Conservatives and fairness is an oxymoron.

Clinton forced the banks to take on"sub prime" lending, this was then parceled up and sold with other good debts as good debts to international investors. Gordon Brown broke the banking regulation in the UK, and unlike under Thatcher, he threw money at banks instead of letting them collapse.
The rest of the UK's economic collapse is history.

Sorry. I was referring to Thatcher and Reagan or Reaganomics as it was known then. Also 90% of the wealth is in the hands of the top 10%.

LOL, no problem.
But look at it this way, what did New Labour change about the wealth of those "at the top"... er... nothing!
