The Benny Goodman Sextet does a fine jazz version of this song with none other than Peggy Lee doing vocals. Recorded Christmas Eve, 1941. Enjoy!

  • where do u get all these 78s, jesus!

  • Last Saturday, I picked up a collection of about 2000 78s off Craigslist here in Portland. There were hundreds of 'Oh, WOW!' records in that group, including a like new 12" 78 featuring Paul Robeson singing Ol' Man River with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra. That one knocked my socks off! I'll post it soon. My main group of recordings, about 4000 tunes, can be found by Googling 'cdbpdx' and '78records'.

  • This version was recorded Christmas Eve, 1941!

  • Terrific trombone solo by Lou McGarity.

  • perfect!

  • Love the background of this song! :)

  • veeeeeerrrryyy niiiiccceee!!

  • I love that scratchy sound...

  • Thanks for this post. I did not know Benny recorded for Columbia. As a kid it was always RCA Victor and those records were more expensive than Decca and Bluebird so it had to be really great to justify a buy.

  • Is there anyone to post the Scatman Jon's rendering?

  • I've heard many versions of this piece but I think this one is my favorite :)
