Note that dry ice comes from companies listed in your local yellow pages. Some welder supply stores carry it. In Seattle, you can find it in the seafood section of QFC neighborhood grocery. Ask for dry ice pellets rather than slabs, so you won't have to chop it up yourself.

lol "not for kids" im 16 years old and i was taught how to handle cryo fluids at 12 >.> maybe my chemistry teacher was a bit of a lunatic, it was only ever me that he showed this stuff to tho cos i was a bit of a geek i suppose. or maybe he was just insane (considering he still has a 2 oz. lump of weapons grade plutonium in his store room, this is a more likely scenario...)
Using dry ice "snow" harvested from a CO2 fire extinguisher equipped with the horn-type discharge works wonderfully as well for this purpose. You know how the Mythbusters cooled a canned beverage with various techniques? Utilizing this one, and immersing the can in the refrigerated alcohol or acetone, you can cool that same can to a perfect quaffing temperature in under a minute. :)
