Blind from birth, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu is from the Gumatj nation and his mother from the Galpu nation, both first nations peoples from North East Arnhemland.

A former member of Yothu Yindi and now with the Saltwater Band (hailing from Elcho Island), Gurrumul Yunupingu sings the songs of his Gumatj country in this debut solo album.

The English translation of Bäpa:

Grief has taken hold of me
for my father when the sun sets,

Oh beloved father
Crying and crying when the sun goes down,
My mind there at Bekulnjura,

Oh beloved father
Two Gumatj ladies crying,
ancestor boss ladies Dhuwandjuka and Daylulu,
when the sun sets my there at the place Gunyanjara'
