No, it's a thermite fuse. They are often used to light liquid-fuel rocket motors.

@TimpBizkit That's why I don't even think Brainiac is on anymore. It was stupid and half-assed. They even cheated in a number of their experiments just to make it cooler.

That was cool. I believe that is magnesium, it may not be magnesium, but it was not thermite. Thermite burns at over 4000 degrees fahrenheit.
Still cool though!
