@squarefred1983 yeah i seen the tears in 2005, they were OK a couple of their songs were decent but not mind blowing. dont get me wrong Oakes did a good job at replacing Butler, i just prefer butlers song writing, i think their first 2 albums are by far the bands best work, i just got the impression when Oakes joined the band they were looking for another Bernard Butler, a sort of 'copy' of the real thing, Oakes probably was a massive butler fan coz he could play all their songs already.

@gasmeter24 they were still good. they just couldnt top their first album. they peaked too early. i have to say i was SORELY disappointed the anderson butler reformation in the Tears. early suede was a combination of the right people at the right time. i saw suede in 2003 and it was a great gig. richard oakes is a great guitarist. his guitar parts are more technically difficult than butler's. i still cant play the beautiful ones properly.

i think suede lost the plot after after butler left, Anderson lost his way a bit without his butler by his side
