@primo765 it's ultimately about the individuals competing, but all things being equal, the western boxer is at a disadvantage because he is not familiar with the muay thai technique but the muay thai man is familiar with the western boxing technique.

@lkd344 yes that's true that many muay thai fighters don't have great punching, but when you can kick and knee and elbow and sweep it is not quite as important.....Originally they didn't wear gloves to protect the hands and the hand is not as good of a weapon to strike with without gloves because you can damage it very easily.

@undeadpresident muay thai fighters with out boxing hands dont do good in K1, watch vids of muay thai competitions where theres a traditional music playing while round is going, then watch K1 competitions compeare the handwork. Im not sayn that muay thai is bad ,its just so many myua thai fighers consentrate on legs they barely work with hands. But thers no dout ,that muya thai swing kick is a most powerfull of all martial arts kicks.
