watched this in my S-130 S-190 class... awesome real life example of deployment! Good way of teaching how quick a dangerous situation can happen and how LCES needs to be in place clearly

where the fire has already burned all fuels (grass, timber, etc.) basically a firefighters bestfriend for safety

@ridehard201 what is "black"?

That is really scary to have to deploy shelters. I've only had to do it once and hopefully will never have to again. Had a brushfire that the wind caught and ran on us. Worst part was we were on a ridge with fire below us. Scariest 5minutes while I've been doing wildland.

does no one use the A in LACES? Aka Anchor point? They got extremely lucky, with it being a grass fire and the slope it could have been a lot worse.

wow i was not there, but that looked like a safety zone to me! im sure they would of took a little heat but not much at all.

i hope i never have to deploy and if i do i hope its short
communications were excellent..ive been on worse fires(not bragging) with less communications between staff and crews..LCES was on point in this situation. They say the best time to use your shelter is NEVER,this video explains the best possible times to deploy
