In 1994, the Boeing Commercial Aircraft Group commissioned Dick Clark Corporate Productions to create a Roll Out event for the new Boeing 777. The Roll Out is an important tradition at Boeing, and some form of ceremony accompanies the unveiling of every aircraft.
The client's goal was to create a highly emotional event that would help to socialize the very new concept of "Working Together" to the larger Boeing organization.
The event was held in the Everett final assembly building. Over 100,000 people were invited. They were divided into groups of 6,500.
The presentation you will see takes place in a space that is over 125' high, on a 285' screen using both Pani and 35mm projectors. A highly specialized sound reinforcement system was installed, and 1.5 million watts of theatrical lighting were used for the reveal and to light the plane. The original score was recorded with a 67 piece orchestra. Original cinematography was shot by the Boeing AudioVisual Services team.
The event garnered worldwide television coverage and instantly won a place in Boeing lore.
This video was awarded the Grand Prize at the New York International Film Festival for best corporate event.
