  • The look on his face says all you need to know. "Oh yeah, I am soooooooo getting laid tonight and I owe it all to Pontiac!" ROTFL

  • The 80's rocked. Everything was about trying to live in the future. It was a forward thinking decade with a seriously cool vibe. This commercial isn't just awesome, nor just about an awesome car, it captures the feel of the era perfectly. You could almost see the BAMA sprawl and picture Case picking up Molly on their way to a club after their work for Armitage.

  • @34kevinj why do you hate them so much?

  • PONTIAC, ALONG WITH BUICK & OLDSMOBILE ARE THE WORST CARS OF ALL-TIME. GOOD RIDDANCE TO PONTIAC & OLDSMOBILE. BUICK WILL JOIN THEM SOON AS OBSOLETE CARS.

  • @91TransAmKid Also, you got your pairings wrong, z28 & Formula, ss & T/A.

And It WAS a decision about what to do in 93, and it WAS incorporated into "regular" T/As.

I've had 2 3rd Gens and absolutely love them. One was a GTA, which is (effectively) the American Aston-Martin in many ways (meaning it can be viewed as such, not speaking about design intent here). Your name does not impress or impart authority, and you are just plain incorrect and ill-informed.

  • @91TransAmKid You never had anything to debate, you've been wrong about everything, including this. The GTA was inspired by the SR-71, originally going to be called "Blackbird" & aimed at high end import sports car buyers. It was requeste to use the GN engine, but denied for cost reasons, it could only be done for a limited special edition (89 Anniv).

(this youtube character limit sucks balls - more)

  • @usquanigo im not debating about this any longer with you, but know one thing, the only reason why the GTA never went into a 4th gen is because the GTA was over priced. By the end of the GTA run they were range in 25 grand area instead of 20K to 21 K for a 4th gen Trans Am new. It was about saving options and money. And the GTA was only about the same circumstances like the IROC was, build a higher end sports car over the Z28 and Trans Am. And they did. Had nuthing to do going toward a 4th gen

  • @91TransAmKid Finally, there are fewer _options_ on 4th Gen T/As because everything became standard. (to my chagrin too, I wanted a hard-top, but could not get one, as since 98 all T/As are t-top as standard).

Pontiac needed to decide what to do with the GTA when the 4th Gen was being made, and the decision was to make the GTA the standard, rather than a "high end Trans Am", it became all Trans Ams. Thus, less use for option packages - you just got it all. In which case, who needs options?

  • @91TransAmKid This is blatantly false. KBB Value on my car is $14.6G and Autotrader shows average prices around $11G.

Further, you just don't get it. It's not about dollar value. People who buy & sell to make money are disgusting. And as stated, dollar value is not req'd for something to be a classic.

There are not that many T/As. damn dirty camaros, yes, but not T/As. 4th Gen Firehawks are devalued because they erroneously sold the package on T/As as well. (more)

  • @usquanigo your even lucky to get 7500 for a stock ls1 car in stock form today. Theres to many on the road right now.People bought 2nd gens for like 400 bucks back in early 90s because they couldnt get rid of them. Now there so highly sought after and on the market for a lot of money as (COLLECTOR) pieces. Plus 4th gens never got near the amount of options you could get during the 3rd gen run. Not to mention a 4th gen firehawk will never come to close to value as to what a 3rd gen firehawk will.

  • @91TransAmKid They are classics. "Classic" is a term used as a complement to imply that it is great. It has naut to do with age or "collector value". Besides which, if we assume that something will become valuable, then isn't it "collectible" before it gains the value? (why wait just to pay more, that sort of thing). Either way, yeah, "instant classic" or "that's _classic_!" are ways that term applies 100% to every single one ever made. (save maybe for the 74 &/or 75s with that ugle vega nose)

  • @usquanigo Actually only 67-92. The 4th gens are not classics by no means. They are still noticeable and they are starting to fade into the dark now as to where the 3rd gens were for a long time. The third gens are higher up in value to a buyer now because the 4th gens are selling for cheap now and the 3rd gens are starting to become more valuable and recognized to collectors,as where the 2nd gens were and still are. The 4th gens still have another 10 years down the road to be a collectible car
