'meri bahen' was produced by New Theaters (calcutta) in 1944. Starring saigal,sumitra,nawab(owner of the studio),chandravati,akhtar jehan (sister)asgar husain shore (studio director)who was a veteran of new theaters since 1935 .Excellent Music by Pankaj Mullick. To the best of my knowledge Saigal returned to make this movie for new theaters because of Pankaj mullick who was his mentor & best friend

True. My father used to sing this song, & told me it was sung by Pankaj Mullick, who was one his favorite singer/musician. Am thankful to youtube & aficionados like samjhave, IMIRZA777, Khazanchi, Ajit555, to name a few for these songs are a Nostalgic Treasure for me! We had Pankaj Mullick, C.H Atma, Geeta Dutt & K.L.Saigal's songs played often at home with fond admiration by my dad who also happened to be close friends with Saigal's brother who also had an amazing voice like K.L.Thanks!Ritu USA

I believe this song was originally sung by Pankaj Mullick in the movie Kapal Kundala - the 1939 version. Pankaj Mullick was also the music director. (There was also an earlier version of Kapal Kundala in 1933.)

What a natural actor Saigal was in addition to divine singer. Seeing Saigal here act so naturally all so called renowned actors like Dilip Kumar etc. would be no match to Saigal's acting shown here. It is this 2 in 1 art in Saigal that he was a maga star in his times and people were crazy for KL Saigal's movies.

Yeah I agree with you original is original but there are exceptions. The same song re-sung my Lataji is just mind-blowing, blissful. My god! Oldies song can be so good, so very good at times.
