Let me ask you? Do you have an autistic child? Will you have to take care of that child the rest of there life? Would you like to be able to communicate and know what is on there mind? If I could ask my daughter if she wanted to be cured, and she could reason I almost certain she would say yes. So before you jump to any conclusions or have any understanding what it's like watch what you say here.

@DrBubbleTab75 probably some labels define you. Plus, a lot of parents are challenged after this.

When I was little, my mom took me to some doctorto be evaluated to see if I was autistic. They said I might be autistic. For the rest of my life there was no mention of autism. But I almost never hang out with people, and I hate talking to people, I was more intrested in cartoons than my peers (And I still am.) Now, I'm almost 14 and people say I'm quiet and shy, but I hate being called that. I'd rather be called emo or something. And, believe it or not, I want to be autistic. I don't know why,

It's not a disease, but it does need a cure. 1 out of 115 are diagnosed with autism in the usa. as of now, it's pretty much an epidemic. If something doesn't change or if a cure isn't found, what do you think that ratio will be when our kids have kids? and so on and so forth? USA is pretty much the only country that has this high of a percentage, so obviously something isn't right.

@TheDazro Good question, even though you changed subject from 'the views on Autism' to 'how a cure should be distributed'.
My answer would be to first break the autistic child out of their shell, and give them psychological/pedagogical help so they can expose themselves to the world and adapt to it during his/her childhood (all of which worked quite well for me).
If that fails, then maybe I could see a "cure" as a last resort, if that is what the person's guardian thinks is best.

@TheLostDemocracy What about the low-functioning

@JimmyEG1 It would have the same affect as it would on Autistic people. Nil. People tend to forget that because Autism is a spectrum disorder we can test the effectiveness of any treatement on a person with severe symptoms. It is easy to give a child with speech delay or mild behavoural issues a placebo and then have parents note changes they think are real, But try the treatement on someone one who has not spoken or looked directly at you in thirty plus years and you'll know if it works.

What would happen if you use this on normal people?
