RFID Journal worked with Avery Dennison and Motorola to demonstrate to attendees at the RFID in Fashion 2009 event the difference between taking inventory with bar codes and doing it with radio frequency identification. While not perfect, the person using a handheld RFID reader captured 39 of the 40 items in 13 seconds, the same time it took the volunteer with a bar code reader to scan 2 items. It took over 3 minutes to scan all the items with the bar code reader and, even taking that extra time, the volunteer missed six items. This demonstration reveals the RFID was approximately 20 times faster than the bar code scanner. For retailers, this would save substantially on labor costs as well improve inventory accuracy as you would now be able to do it more often and with more reliable results.
I can't really hear anything.
