IS NOT A CHOICE....MY SON HAS SELECTIVE MUTISM AND I KNOW HOW HE FEELS, HE REALLY WANTS TO SPEAK, BUT NOTHING COMES OUT OF HIS MOUTH, @ HOME HE TALKS AND TALKS.......

I disagree. Selective Mutism ISN'T a choice. I don't have it but I do have autism and I know what its like. There are times when I won't even talk at all because I get so anxious in social situations. I could be with parents and friends and not say a single word but other times I can. I don't talk because I don't want to because its usually due to anxiety and my brain going into a mode of lockdown.

You suck.

@yyGrifHD Wow. You're like those over reacting christians who shout that gays should be burned, because they chose to be that way.
I don't know if I have this, but I have symptoms. In social situations, I cannot speak. I want to, I know the answers to questions, I have ideas, I want to comfort friends. but I cannot make a sound. My jaw clamps shut and my throat tightens, and the harder I try to make a sound, the more I tense up.
So I give up. I hardly try anymore, and that relieves the stress.
