Drawing FrankiFairy

Here's my pastel portrait of FrankiFairy. Apologies these are starting to spread out a bit more, but they are taking a little bit longer than usual.

I'm starting to realize that half the fun of doing these drawings is sifting through all the available creative commons license music.

This instance was no exception, as I've grown particularly fond of the duo used for the music track in this video. The song is called "One Week Time" by the group "Lull" off their Duo Acoustique album. As far as I've found they only have one album released so far. I don't know what it is about their music but it sticks in my head - in a good way. Definitely worth checking out.

how do you blend, i got a pastel art set by derwent for 20$ at a swap meet but its hard to use, how do you do hair so good? what do you use to set, is hairspray okay?

Apologies for taking so long to reply - I was MIA for a bit there. I use Rembrandt soft pastels - which are super easy to blend. I made the mistake of getting hard pastels when I first attempted this and they were horrendous. I use some sort of spray fixative to set the pastels - I got it from an arts & crafts store. I've used hairspray for pencil drawings in a pinch, but I prefer the actual spray art fixative.

p.s. Be careful with the hairspray - if you spray it too heavy you can ruin hours of work in mere seconds :P
