UPDATE : Download the MP3 http://rapidshare.com/files/406621537/Robocop_Title_Music_8_Bit_c64_remake_19...

Here is my remake of the fantastic music from Robocop on the 8 bit machines (Spectrum/Commodore/Amstrad etc). I originally fell in love with the music on the Spectrum 128k, and many years later when I got my PC - I decided to remake it as a music module in Fasttracker. I originally sampled various sounds from a Commodore 64's SID chip to recreate this beauteous sound! Enjoy!

Original 8 bit music was made by the wonderful Jonathan Dunn.

By the way, this was done in 1997,a mere 12 years ago - and yes I have older mods!

  • did you draw the samples? also. Where's the source material? (the module)

  • @Elrinth I sampled single sounds from the SID chip, then I recreated the song by ear from scratch.

  • @ChuckBleedinNorris and where's the module? I want it in my "Elrinth's awes0me collexxion of d00m"

  • @Elrinth PM me your email and I'll send it you :)

  • One of the greatest C64 tunes ever produced :) I was about 14 when i first heard it back in 1988 (i think it was released in that year) and it resonated with me for many years after!

I never forgot it but wanted to hear it again, and this mix is nicely executed whilst retaining the original feel almost to a tee :)

    Well done mate!

  • This sounds pretty much exactly like the C64 version itself, and what an arrangement it is! Excellent work!

  • Thank you for this, its been in my head for years. Incredible job.

  • LOL you got the snare just perfect d(°û°)b Beautiful job mate.

  • @blade004 EXACTLY! I was 8 in 1988 and used to go over to my mates house to play this on the weekends. We used to sit there waiting for the tape to load up for ages! So strange to see how far we've come. And also so weird that somehow we've all come across this video again somehow, and are reunited once more as computer game players! I actually searched for it once day thinking it'd never be here, but there ya go! All the best my friend...

  • @manns101101 Isn't it funny how we were all about the same age loving it at the same time back in 1988 when Computing was such a niche thing to do and reading all those letters in magazines like Zzap64 or ACE :) Now we read comments on YouTube and perhaps "you" or some other guy were the same guys for whom letters i read way back then. I am glad you share the same sentiment :)

  • @blade004 I completely agree. It was years before I heard this again here. Brilliant work and such a joy to hear it again.

  • im about to cry, so nostalgic

  • great stuff mate. one of my faves.
