More crime, more robberies, more drug use. Some say those will be the consequences of the two dozen people cut from Spokane County's Methadone Treatment Program. KXLY4's McKay Allen has more.
Methadone does not save lifes it might save youre body but ur soul and mind is fucked on that evil stuff. Methadone is just as bad, worse imo. A drug is a drug is a drug! Weak ass ppl...i quit a 300mg roxy habbit and 7 bars of xanax a day then did the meth thing for a few years realized i was causing nothing but my own suffering and reminded myself im a strong person and quit cold turkey by myself so stop being weak and do somthing with youre lifes. I did
im a bit confused lol. i have always paid cash for my methadone. is this not an option in that state? i know alot of people cannot afford to pay cash, but shit, if ya can then why be cut ? i feel like this shits a ball and chain on my ankle by the way.
I've been on the methadone for 10 years... 5 of those years the state paid for it... now I pay for it... it's 14 dollars a day even if it was 40 dollars today it would still be cheaper than getting dope..... methadone save my life... I thank god for every day...
IT WILL COST MORE IN THEFT AND JAIL COSTS THEN GIVING THEM METHADONE.
to support their habit they have to steal or rob people, lets say $500 worth of stuff that they can trade for $200 worth of dope, some people need $500 worth of Heroin so that means they have to steal $1000 worth of stuff, that means they have to Rob people, Break in to homes, and steal cars, and that puts peoples lives in danger. or you could pay their $20 Methadone bill. and the $50 clinic fee every month. NO BRAINER.
of policeing courts criminal justice legal aid welfare etc. Oh and yes - it also saves the live of addicts and helps many keep whatever family/life they have left...In essence it pays for itself - for more on this watch the very well made youtube video "dope sick", my pet name for it is "a world without methadone" . Those who say "just say no" should try going through withdrawal...trust me you would not make it half an hour. (for more on this check out the wd scene in candy -very realistic)
Those who are not on methadone truely have no understanding of this issue.. I have been on it about 3 years now, and may be on it for life. It is not fun, does not get me high at all, but at least I am not sick, and do not have to use 100% of my time and energy worrying about withdrawal. YES cutting people off methadone increases crime and therefore affects the cost of insurance, causes financial/psychological damage to victims, and of course eventually causes increases costs.. (cont.)
Ok why can't they pay for the methadone out of their own pocket? That's what I do. Ok you're not insured anymore, why can't they pay for it themselves instead of getting kicked outta the program? What kind of logic is that? Something sounds fishy to me.
I do respect your comment even though one size doesn't fit all. I don't know if you are speaking from experience and if you are, I applaud you for having the courage to get off so fast..However the people I know who have gotten off of methadone and stayed drug free took their time to taper. My ex used heroin for 35+ years and he went down 1mg a month, he has been drug free since Jan 1, 1997.. However I am an addict who is in the small group whos endorphines are gone, there is
