I wrote and (in this version) sing the lyrics of this original song inspired by John Lennon's "IMAGINE". The visuals come from a mix of pics I grabbed off various places online and clips from the 1980's film, "Dreamscape".

I really like the old school visuals in this movie. (Reminds me a bit of Harryhausen.) To me the snake-man represents that reptilian-like, fear-based part of us all, which we can overcome if we're motivated strongly enough to make the effort.

I know this song needs production work! I hear a children's choir in place of the parts of the song where I'm singing in the high falsetto. I'll get it back in the studio someday... The main idea is the lyrics though. So, as the lyricist I willingly share them with you here.

I'M ALIVE
By Mike Dunn & Seth Andrews
©1990/2008

Everybody's waiting for the day to come
When we will live as one
Hear the people saying it's just around the bend
But so may be the end...

So don't stop the things we've started
Let's work together and stay open-hearted!

It's so hard to imagine all the damage done
In our race for number one
Is it too late for compassion?
'Cause it's not too late to change...
And there's another way, yeah!

So don't stop the things we've started
Let's do more than try
Can't you hear the children crying...
I'm alive!

(musical break)

I believe that we're free to choose our destiny
That's how it's meant to be
And I believe there's more to us than just our history
You gotta open your eyes to see, yeah...

One love...
One people...
One vision worldwide...
Can't you hear the future crying...
I'm alive

One love...
One spirit...
Deep down inside...
Can't you hear the planet crying...
I'm alive, Oh, I'm alive,
I'm alive!

I originally posted this on my previous youtube page during the 2008 Presidential election campaign. I supported Ralph Nader as a Delegate in California when Kucinich dropped out of the race. If Nader had dropped out I would have supported Cynthia McKinney, and if she had quit Mike Gravel looked good to me... I put my vote with the ones who said they would bring the troops home IMMEDIATELY! Ron Paul would have gotten my vote had he made the Republican ticket... hah! Integrity first. I saw then, and still now see Obama as a pandering puppet of the war machine and other corporate controls. Why is there no Dept. Of Peace in Obama's Cabinet? Think about it...
