It is not just sitting on a mat when we meditate, we are to practice IT in all settings in life - walk, work, sit, and laid down. This video explains the way to bridge the gap between sitting in a controlled setting as traditionally done and practicing in more dynamic situations such as in a meeting with people, or even while playing tennis, surfing, etc. In fact, this orientation will make meditation more to the point and focused, hence accelerate the "learning" on the path to the mastery. In Zen, this orientation is called Dochuu-no-Kufuu, or practice in dynamic setting. Zen Master Hakuin says, this is hundreds of billion times more effective than the practice of just "sitting."

As a person greatly benefitted from the "Sitting" meditation, I would not take the traditional practice lightly. However, one may be advised to mesh both practices so that there is a consistent orientation between controlled and dynamic meditation. Best wishes! - Kio

P.S. Some may argue that very serious and ardent effort is necessary in the controlled setting (i.e., traditional meditation in - say 10+day retreat) to break-through the negative mind habits which are formed over many years. I fully attest such viewpoint. However, I believe there should be no quarrel to the practice as described in this video. Be aware of what is going on and remain equanimous. Let the nature(miracle) take care of itself!
