This week we're looking at the 3 different chord types used in a II V I progression and dealing with root position and first inversion shapes. There are notes available on pdf files that you can download for free to help with the lessons. Just click on http://www.davemarks.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&s...

  • What model Fender is that? I like the blocked frets. Looks like a P-bass but not sure.

  • Hey man - it's the Marcus Miller model Jazz. So far I haven't seen anyone else with the white finish...

  • Hey y'all -I've just posted an mp3 backing track for you to practice your walking bass ideas along to. It's a simple II V I progression in C Major with a nice slow swing. It will work for all of the lessons I've done so far... It's on the lessons page of my website.

  • i agree with neilpopfilter you explain things thoroughly enough a lot of teachers dont slow down their minds and remember how they might have learned this or that. cant be throwing shit out there too quickly you have to remember being a student yourself..good job bro ive been wanting to know how walking bass works im already getting my own ideas on how to mess around and improvise with these ideas thanks

  • You talk about going to your pdf lesson and down load the information. I can't find it, is that where you have to sign up to be able to get it?

  • @surfenglewood A b3rd is the note, a minor third is an interval. So Dave is correct

  • @surfenglewood

'Flat' intervals tends to be the parlance in jazz.

Considering that walking bass is mostly used in jazz...

  • call it a minor 3rd not a flat third, its driving me nuts

  • @jstraiton66 yeah!

  • I really get a lot out of your lessons so thanks for posting them. Your videos got me fired up to learn the arpeggios, no small task. I have a question, if I'm playing a I-ii-IV-vi progression should I use the major arpeggio for the 1st& 4th and the minor arpeggio for the 2nd & 6th? Is that how aprpeggios should be applied?

  • thanks dave!!!
