A video showing how to detail strip a Glock pistol. The pistol here is a model 19. Green words are instructions that should be followed. White words are used when parts are being taken out for clarification.

You are not supposd to use a hammer to remove the pins. Instead, just push on them with the punch. Using a hammer can damage your pistol (bending a pin or mar the frame) if you use too much force. This information came to me after I finished making this video so I was not able to change it.

And since I have had this question asked before:
The first song is "Clubbed to Death" off the Matrix sound track.

  • this kid shot himself in the head with that gun. ownd

  • out of camera range!

  • Great vid, but zoom the camera out a bit next time, and try to keep the firearm actually beneath the camera. the music...great songs....distracting.

Otherwise keep up the awsome work. very eduacational. Thanks

  • FYI, the track listed as in the video here isn't Rob Zombie - Scum of the Earth.

It's actually Clubbed to Death ( Kurayamino variation) by Rob Dougan. It's from the soundtrack of the first Matrix movie, and a staple in goth/industrial clubs throughout the late nineties.

    For the record. =]

  • Overall, a very good video. However, you do not need to use a hammer to remove the three pins. A punch is the only thing needed for this. If you have to use a hammer, then something is wrong.

  • -The firing pin safety spring can be damaged when taken out. It is best to remove the entire firing pin safety as a whole

-Always use the right tool for the job, not an allen wrench as a pen punch.

The video was good overall... thanks.

  • @GLK30

Detail stripping is very hard on a gun and should be done only one time a year, not twice. If your going to call people stupid pricks, at least know your facts.

    @xDefilerx

The trigger pin (the ridged one, as you called it) was removed rather roughly. The spring on the slide stop lever sits in the ridge on the left, and using brute force to separate the slide stop lever spring from the trigger pin will destroy the spring.

-The take down lever is called the slide lock

  • why dont you show how to remove the magazine release? why bother reposting info that others have already done? atleast show how to do the bits other people forgot.

  • My 19 has been bullet proof thus far. The G22s seem to have the most issues overall. I personally think Glocks shine best in 9mm.

Guess thats what happens when you take a gun designed around the 9mm and try to make it into a .40?

  • NIKON777, my department changed out the two front frame pins on our Glock 22s a few years back because several were breaking, some only after several hundred rounds. Don't know if ours came with plastic pins (the 2 front ones) but IIRC, our armorers installed titanium pins. I can't imagine a Glock having a weakness but if I had to determine one, I'd say the frame pins and maybe the extractor. Right now I have one of my personal G19s idle as I wait for a replacement extractor as mine broke.
