  • The mistake was not attacking Russia. That was necessary for several reasons. The mistake was not wintering in Moscow. Moscow was safe and sufficient supplies had been captured. He could have totally defeated the Tsar in the spring.

  • @nusquamesse1248 Iam not sure about that, i mean Napoleon would have probably seen the consequences of his staying in Moscow, he calculated that schemes were being made behind his back in Paris probably and that the survival of the Army in the hurt of Moscow especially if he left it by its own , was not at all certain

  • I studied this point while in Moscow years ago. I have held artifacts from Napoleon's army. I have detailed maps of the city from both sides. I know precisely where everyone was, their supplies and condition, and the options available. Most scholars I met in Moscow, Paris, Brussels, London, Warsaw, Vienna, and Berlin agree with what I have written.

  • @nusquamesse1248 didn't you hear? Moscow was burned down by the russians.

  • in english im glad that napoleon was defeated but no 1 can say that he wasnt epic, a brilliant man. but i think and its just my humble opinion that by the time he was fighting in russia he had lost his xfactor i think that the early genius that was napoleon 10 or 5 years earlier would of somehow overcome and kicked the russians asses or made a smarter choice. anyhow say wot u want about him but my 1 word 4 him is EPIC. big up napoleontas 4 a brilliant up load thanks mate

  • It wasn't the cold which killed off his army. It was mostly diseases like typhus and dysentery. They left Moscow on October 19th. The winter (technically Autumn) of 1812 was mild until December 4th when it fell below zero for the first time. Until that time it was punctuated by frosts and thaws. The crossing of the Beresina on November 26th was deadly not from thin ice, but because the ice had melted and a makeshift bridge had to be hurriedly constructed or the army would be trapped.

  • "This was a wild attack. They were killing each other!"

What else exactly were you expecting to happen?.....

  • @mayiizrock Throne

  • @mayiizrock renounced his throne (as emperor of france).

  • this was NOT a napoleon battle,,, something was different.. he was not napoleon. he fought like a mortal, like a man who knew nothing of modern warfare, something was

    VERY different.
