With the development of freestanding altars, retables became extinct in contemporary church architecture. (Historic St. Paul's Episcopal 1884 retable became extinct also).
{ A retable is a step like shelf was usually placed on the altar prior to mid 1960s}

This is our replacement for the original lost retable. Placed behind the altar it restores the late 19th and early 20th century appearance to our sanctuary. Thanks to all that helped in this project.
