A small demonstration to show the sound spectrum of the BOSS BF-2.

In order to guard against simple questions concerning the operation of this pedal, I refer to the manual that you can officially download as a PDF document here:

  • Did you find any difference in warmth between the BF-2 and BF-3? The reason i'm asking is that i'm using a GR-55/VG-99 setup and i'm looking for ways of "analogifying" the sound.

  • @GuitarSynths

The difference between the BF-2 and the BF-3 is huge on the one side and marginal on the other.

    The huge difference:

Function-wise the BF-3 is a great leap forward! Different modes, stereo functions and much higher values of any value (Rate, Manual, Depth, Resonance) can be used.

    The marginal difference:

Sound-wise the BF-3 does not sound as digital as you may suppose. I tested it against the BF-2 with sonically matching settings. I was stunned how similar the BF-3 sounded!

  • @wwwPepeMusicDE

How would you compare BF2 to BF3...

based on your experience, is BF3 just a BF2 with additional features? or additional crap?

i have BF2 now but im satisfied already, maybe BF3 is just for extra effects not usually useful

  • @dharzfreeman

The features of the BF-3 in combination with its very analog-like sound convinced me to sell my BF-2 without lurking doubts.

I love the Gate/Pan mode which can either scramble your sound, even in a tremolo way, or gives you stereo madness. The Ultra mode is great if you like to have more extreme settings. The normal mode comes close to the BF-2's sound, but the modulation is deeper on maximum as well as the feedback is heavier.

If you like subtle flanger, stick with the BF-2.

  • what's the name of the first song?

  • @teenspirit96

There is no song! If any phrase of any demo I make has a bit in common with existing songs, it's coincidence. All these tunes just came out of my head/my hands.

  • The greatest demo of this pedal!!!!

  • @mexicanmudslide4500

Listen to the example at 1:45. If rate is set to minimum, the flanger is stuck and doesn't move anymore.

  • @wwwPepeMusicDE

I know this thing doesn't have the EHX filter matrix thing, but if I turned the rate straight to 0, could I catch it somewhere in the sweep, or will it keep moving?

  • very good!!!nice demo!!!
