I am so glad they restored the Nomadic but they only did it because of Titanic fame. Now what about the SS United States? The flag ship of our nation should be restored too.

@magnusalexa The rivets where cheap because they used a mixture of to much bad metal
and iron.They would have used steel but the machine that hammered them in the hull was unable to work there.So they had to use iron which they to had thought was not strong enough so the added slag(the workers could not hammer in steel ones cbecause it was to hard) .Which can strengthens or weakens the metal(too much or too little)in this case it of coarse weekend it.

The last shot with the man holding up the White Star Line flag in front of the SS Nomadic brought tears to my eyes. :-) God how I wish the RMS Olympic, RMS Titanic, and RMS Britannic were moored next to their baby sister. What a tourist destination that would be, but a least we have the SS Nomadic to cherish. God Bless those responsible for saving her.

@thd75008 dont you mean made infamous for building titanic, harland and wolfs designers helped to sink the titanic, by putting in cheap rivets, the best would not have been ripped out by an iceberg

@daddinsmore38 a disgraice to give that much of our money to a frail ship people wont feel safe on, make it a wreck like the rest of its class

@fpernice518 oh, didn't know lol
ok, to clarify, SS Nomadic is currently moored at Barnetts dock having been returned from France back to her native Belfast for full restoration, the cost of which is expected to be £7million, SS Nomadic is the LAST of the White Star Ships & her refit is (hopefully) to be completed by 2011, this has been made possible due to a £2.27m E.U grant.
