@88BigEtrain Buddy, that hit in 2000 was clean as it gets. It was well-timed and you can clearly see Stevens's shoulder making contact first. Have you ever played hockey yourself? Try aiming for the head at high speed with your opponent constantly moving and turning. Sure, Lindros had a lot of potential and sadly his career was cut short, but he has mostly himself (and his parents) to blame. It wasn't just Stevens, who punished him for not keeping his head up.
@bbmtge You're dead wrong on the issue of having or not having to speak French. The francophone franchises are well-known for their preferential treatment of French speaking players and coaches. Realize, that there's a big rivalry, and sometimes even hatred between francophone and anglophone parts of Canada. How many francophone players play for anglophone teams and vice versa? Thank God, Lindros didn't wind up there. Lindros=Flyers, Flyers=Lindros. Forever.
@bbmtge You miss the fact of Mario having played with superstars teammates-Francis,Jagr etc.Francis happens to be one of the best passers of all time. He, also, couldn't be touched just like Wayne, for he would start whining and complaining about the physical style that was used against him. You can seldom see Mario having two or more opponents hanging on to him. He had enough space to maneuver in.He was so big that the very fact allowed him to do anything he wanted to.He hated being hit.
@bbmtge Terry Murray was outcoached by Scotty Bowman, among others. He's a an average coach, who can hardly keep his job anywhere he goes. Philly simply lost to the deeper team, which at that time had been dominant as proven by the next year when red Wings successfully defended the Cup.Yes, you said it-Lindros' line was neutralized.Where was the rest of the team? McCarty could scored a highlight reel goal, whereas nobody showed up for Philly. It's called a depth.
@bbmtge If Lindros had really wanted, he would've smashed Stevens right into the boards. Stevens never touched the boards. Lindros hammered Stevens CLEANLY many more times as shown in other videos. He fought him many times as Stevens barely hung on. Then, in May of 2000 in so important play-offs, Stevens decided to get even and knocked Lindros out with that piece of shit hit. Take a real good look, that's the kind of garbage that the League is taking out of the game-targeting the head.
@bbmtge Great. It's your opinion then, what you think about Lindros and his career. It abysmally differs from mine and other individuals', who actually either watched Lindros up-close on daily basis or better yet, got to play with him.Flyers' best left no doubt what they had thought of him when asked at the crucial time of the truth back in January.
Notice how Stevens got up right away. Unlike that pussy Lindros who wishes he could hit half as good.
