Before the Platters reformed in the mid-60's with new lead vocalist Sonny Turner, it had been since 1961 and their version of "I'll Never Smile Again" that they had made the charts. In 1966, the Platters with only Herb Reed left of the original group, made the Top 40 with "I Love You 1000 Times" followed in early 1967 with "With This Ring". Their last recording of any note was this one, "Washed Ashore", influenced heavily by the Motown sound, it didn't quite make the Top 40 but came close in June of 1967.
