  • good job on the solar panels

  • @ekem13 to much trouble to cary them up there

  • man, solar is the best power source, forget all these generators that reguire gas

  • I believe all you nay sayers have it a little wrong. There is plenty of room for advancement for alternative energy for your home such as wind and solar. At this point, yes its expensive and it would take a long time to pay for itself. But thats not the point IMO. It all about clean reliable energy that we don't have to rely on anyone else to bring it to our home and charge us for it. The cost of a solar or wind system should not be anyone's primary concern because its not about that.

  • @intrepidorator that is longer than a new car would take to pay for. IMO they are not cost effective. I want to know why some kid can jury rig his sattelite TV dish and make a laser that can turn his backyard into molten lava. Yet they are still going ahead with outdated solar technology and trying to charge us a fortune for it?

  • @Sodiumreactor just found this post. I looked into solar and calculated the time it would take for it to pay for itself. A system that could power my home in Oklahoma would cost about $20,000 and with the average electric bill about $150, it would take 11 years for it to pay for itself.

  • @Sodiumreactor uhhh duh, then they would be out of jobs if we could all produce our own power. We have a Ex research scientist that volinteers at our school, and he is nearly compleatly off the grid when it comes to the use of electricity, though he is also liveing in the most energy effecent way plauseable. The guy is nearly a hermit at this point haha

  • @scooterss2112 Its just not possible. The price of a residential solar system is UNBELIEVABLE. It will never pay for itself. Totally defeats the purpose of having one. Windpower is somewhat more affordable, but not as reliable of course. Its almost like the utility companys dont want us to be able to produce our own power....hmmm.

  • @Sodiumreactor Yeah it is. I have 2 fireplaces and split wood by hand all year to offset my heating bill. Thats all I can afford. Oh and I raise my chickens. And I have a well and septic tank. But thats all I can afford for going green and getting away from city taxes. Being self dependant seems like it could never happen especially with my budget. I see no way of getting all the electricity from solar.

  • @scooterss2112 way way too expensive for the average person who actually would like to lower their utility bill.
