@TurkishAD Turks were not forced to convert to Islam by sword. They converted voluntarily, mainly through missionary activities of the Iranian Samanid dynasty. That's the reason why such words "namaz" are taken from Persian and not Arabic.

And I doubt that Atatürk would tolerate gay parades. He was secularist, but that doesn't mean necessarily gay friendly, at least not in his time. Not yet.

I'm not gay but I think parades like this are very important. And it's nice to see them in Turkey. Especially for the neighbours of Turkey this should be a lesson.
