I do not know if you know it:CHESS was interested in recording Reed but only with their STUDIO BAND incl. Little Walter.

Then-unknown Reed refused that offer&said he will only record in his OWN JIMMY REED SOUND. The man was not only an original artist but had guts,too.

@aloliver331 My favorite too.  That's Robert Nighthawk on guitar - that album is the absolute primer on how to back up a harmonica player. Robert was no slouch on harp himself, especially if it's true that he also recorded as Robert Lee McCoy (I have no way of verifying this but it's generally held to be true). Check out his recordings.

@Horwellston Sorry my strong language. It's about a year on and I'm learning _not_ to play like walter horton. He's my favourite harmonica player, I even named myself after him (see username). several years ago It was I was sitting on the carpet listening to walter play lamenting how much worse I play than him and figured it out that I had to learn tongue blocking and now I don't play any other way. I need people to play the blues with.
