A short film I made for a project for a course. It's about Capoeira in general and Capoeira Mandinga Aotearoa/Mestre Brabo, my group located in NZ. It also features Mestre Marcelo Caveirinha, Mestra Sorriso and Contra-Mestre Bengala from Capoeira Mandinga in the USA.

do yous learn flips??

We learn to play capoeira. If people want to learn flips they are welcome to, that's up to the individual. What we learn in class is how to trap someone in the corner of a circle, and how to escape from that. Flips are not always the safest choice of movement in a capoeira roda, so we learn to choose our moves wisely.

Really nice job.. I know this was alot more work than most people watching could imagine.. just curious.. how many hours of video did you shoot for it, how long for the voice overs, editing and everything?

Hey, sorry for the delayed response. Yeah it was a lot of work, I had about 8 hours of footage to sift through for this lil 5 min doco, lol. And I probably spent about... Maybe 15hrs editing?  The hardest part was cutting the length down cos it had to be a certain length since it was also a project for a course. Thanks a lot for the feedback :)

the part when you said that capoeira is for every1 including "the old" i could'nt help notice that the first person that came up was Mestre Brabo lol

Great job! It is great to hear from other Mandinga groups in the world! I'm in Michigan (USA)! That is also really great that you got to interview Mestre Marcelo!! Keep up the awesome work and hopefully we will meet one day and play a game or two!
