Here's Part 4 of a newscast that aired on KTVU on December 21st, 1984. Thanks to my Aunt & Uncle for recording this.

News Stories include:

1. Segment 2 (Movie review of "Micki & Maude", a movie I've never heard of)
2. Christmas Decorations (Seriously awesome, awesome stuff. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside and wish I had a Christmas tree to hang ornaments on right now)
3. Truckers aid in arresting drunk drivers (Some amazing truckers in this segment)

  • Micki & Maude actually ended up having decent legs at the late '84-early '85 boxoffice, even though it had a disastrous opening weekend (making less money than "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo"). A final gross of $26 million was good enough for 37th on the list of 1984's highest grossers. #37 in 2010 was "Percy Jackson & The Olympians", which grossed $88 million.

I wonder how many newscasts today--even hour long newscasts--would devote a minute and a half to Christmas decorations?

  • HOLY WOW!!! I dont remember this look.....

  • I can assure you it's not. still I wished it had a bigger audience back then in December, 1984...maybe if folks (like my mom) weren't flocking to see Beverly Hills Cop.

  • How ironic. Wasn't George Watson the news anchor who was fired for being drunk on the air? I saw a special on him on 60 Minutes years ago. He was a hopeless alcoholic with no hope. It was so sad. Is he still around?

  • After watchng that Christmas Decorations segment, all I can do now is break open my boxes and begin the decorating of my house. That totally gives me the Christmas spirit!

  • How bad can a movie with a clip from "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad" in it possibly be?

It's too bad that trucker's name isn't spelled McKraken, for obvious reasons.
