Jeff Combs on "Star Trek: The Original Series"

These are excerpts of Jeff from "Star Trek's Favorite Moments," a special feature on Disc 1 of the 2008 boxset, "Star Trek: The Original Series, Season 2." Many "Trek" actors are interviewed on their thoughts about "The Original Series" and how it impacted science fiction, television, and their own lives.

Jeff's interview was conducted in 2003 and is part of the same "blue shirt" interview session he did for the "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" special features. It's really fun to see Jeff so enthusiastic about TOS as he was always a "Trek" fan and truly relished working on three series in the "Trek" universe.

I chose to feature "just the Jeff bits" mainly because that's what the channel's about and so people could get a taste of the feature and choose to go out and buy or rent the boxset for themselves. I've personally rediscovered the original series after renting this disc from Netflix and am absolutely loving watching all of the episodes again!

he is right that that brilliant cast was about 80% responsible for TOS's magic but I actually like the sets too. They were colorful practical and minimalist. It's something you would immediately recognize just like the music the uniforms or props like the phaser or the Vulcan harp. The fixed the sets after the second pilot and the final design was very good
