Knex Flying Island (pagode)

This is a recreation of a ride in the Dutch themepark the Efteling.

I had this idea to make one for a long time. Only just being me, I wanted to make it huge.

I know a smaller version would be a lot easier to make, but I wanted a real challenge.

The model is powered with the 12 volt motor I always use. It had a complex system of gears and strings to make it go up and down.

In the real ride the tempel rotates, only that would be almost impossible to do. not because of the technical difficulties of making it rotate. but because the counterweight has to be 3 times the weight it is right now. That would be too much weight for the knex to handle.

heel mooi gemaakt, maar hoe heb je die lift (omhoog) gekregen?? contra gewicht?

Ja, er zit een flink contra gewicht aan.

Het gewicht dat aan het einde hange weegt maarliefst 5 kg. Deze is net de licht voor de hele arm perfect in balans te krijgen, maar zo komt de arm ook weer altijd naar beneden.

Wel jammer dat de gondel niet draait.

Ik heb nu ook een pagode gebouwd, waarvan ook de gondel draait.

Ik trek de arm met een ketting en lier omhoog.

Kun jij ook laten zien hoe jouw mechanisme van de arm werkt ?
