April 25 2009. Storm Vs Warriors. The Melbourne Storm Rugby League Administration (NRL) and team organised a moving banner and impressive Anzac Ceremony prior to the match. It was appropriate in the sense that Anzac, a term which includes Australians and New Zealanders had a team from both brother countries.
The National Anthem was sung by Julia Messenger whose legendary great-grandfather played for New Zealand (1907-1908) and Australia (1907-1914).
Despite extra time the match was a draw !

  • @lsdvine They've had rights for quite some years nows about 30? They're are specific rules that apply for pensions and dole payments to Aboriginals so they can have 50 kids or so. They have their specific fishing spots and everything where white man can't fish. The reason why there are no aboriginal lyrics is because there are over 600+ different languages and if we made the verses in one specific language they'd all be cheesed off. Thankyou :D

  • @skipsister Ah thats really cool, julia. I just feel so sorry for those aboriginal players man, they have suffered for centuries and they now deserve some recognition you know, just to rally their sense of pride and belonging :) x

  • @lsdvine Hey! It's julia here - I completely agree with you! You know what.. I actually tried rehearsing it with a didge first and it didn't work for my voice register (it was either too high or too low).. but i had a rehearsal with one of australia's great didge players - Unfortunately we just couldn't get it to work - someone else should do it though! I completely agree with what you say.. xx

  • I feel so proud. I love Australia. Amazing feeling.

  • they should have a didgeridoo on the flag and a didge in the song

  • love it long life Australia love you
