Clifford Curry - I Can't Get Hold Of Myself

Clifford Curry, from Nashville, Tennessee, is one of the stalwarts of Soul Music, having been consistently recording for well over forty years and still performing regularly in Carolina, where he's a bit of a hero on the Beach Music scene. In fact, over the last twenty years, he's had tons of little tiny 45s on local Carolina labels to keep his career in full swing. This classic song from 1967, "I Can't Get Hold Of Myself", was a real favourite back in the late 1960s at the Twisted Wheel, at the very inception of the Northern Soul scene. It came out on Elf Records in America, but even got a British release on the Pama label. Clifford is a consummate professional, and was very excited to be a part of "The Strange World Of Northern Soul."

this record was played on radio 1 about 1970 as it was played briefly at the twisted wheel. about the same time as clarance carter relised PATCHES this to got a playing at the wheel about the same time regards jimmy liddy

Actually, he's a Knoxville, TN native. Great stuff. I remember our local top 40 station at the time, WNOX-Knoxville, wearing out "She Shot a Hole in my Soul"!! Love Clifford in East TN!! Love Southern Soul!!

Great video from a great performer. Been a big fan of Clifford Curry since I saw him in Myrtle Beach in 1981.

I love Clifford because he has been making great music since the 1950s. The recent live performance with NC's the King Bees at New River Blues Festival was a beautiful reminder that he is still musically right on and is teaming up with a sympathetic & extremely talented blues oriented band.
