  • @Shearo Holy Wars, Jihad extremists, Westboro Baptist. I'd say there's plenty of reasons to care and be quite concerned how religion impacts our world. It's bad enough that the majority of our species allows their emotions to override objective reasoning, but to then expect those who disagree to simply stfu and mind our own business when the majority are hardly doing the same. FFS, schools systems are editing history to conform to their religious views. You make it our business

  • Well if the world ends in 2012, at least all the harry potter movies will be out!

He is most likely referring to one of the two topics teachers have been pressured to teach; Creationism (blatant misrepresentation of geological history) and the "controversy" surrounding global warming, which is another blatant misrepresentation of the scientific debate (there hasn't been controversy surrounding it for many years now. The science is resolved)

The latter is obviously not motivated by religious ideology, however the perpetrators are the same.

Suicide is a sin in most Christian creed, so no, he'd end up in purgatory or hell for his stupid barn leap.

I thank you for speaking with such clarity and strength.

  • I'd have to say that there's NEVER been ANYTHING that 50% of Americans agreed on, let alone a religious issue like the Rapture.

  • The guy who jumped off the barn would be in heaven either way, if he's right.

  • @SerpentsSilence Texas school systems in particular. They omit details such as prominent figures in black history who've greatly contributed not only socially but scientifically to society. They alter or twist information to conform to their religious views. I moved to TN, it's not nearly as bad here, but some of the 'history' books in middle school had biased and completely false information about Mormons. Oh, for all the Baptists out there I'm an Atheist btw, so, Suck It.

  • lol that guy that 'decoded' the bible? guess he didnt know that part of it was missing :D

  • @SerpentsSilence an example: Texas Board of Education.

  • @Rhdampth How are school system editing history to conform to religious views?

    I am genuinely intrigued.
