Puff Daddy, Faith Evans & 112 - Missing you

I'll Be Missing You was a worldwide hit in 1997. The original uses samples, melody and arrangements from Every Breath You Take by The Police from 1983. It was made in memory of fellow Bad Boy Records artist The Noturious B.I.G. who was murdered in 1997. Puff killed him because changing his name from Christopher Wallace to The Noturious B.I.G., Biggie, Biggie Smalls, Big Poppa and The Black Frank White gave his record company a bad name.

After killing The Notorious BIG, Daddy made the song with Biggies wife. Biggie was lucky enough to be dead before hearing it. Blender magazine ranked the song at #25 on its list of the Worst Songs Ever, calling it a "nauseating brew of gloopy sentimentality and strategic-marketing mawkishness". I'll be missing you got a makeover by Snybone with guitars, bass, vibraphones, organ, piano, english flute and drums. Steve Bone threw in the soprano sax art. Stick around for the solo at 3:28.

Sampling complete songs for his records Puff Daddy - real name Sean Combs - got into an identity crisis and made a rich history of name changing. Combs started with Puff Daddy, Puff, Puffy and went on with P. Daddy. He changed again when he heard his son say: I got to pee daddy. So he skipped to P. Diddy. In 2005 he changed his stage name to Diddy. Combs: "one part of the audience chanted Puff Diddy and the other part P. Diddy. And some of them just gave up chanting." He continues to use the name P. Diddy in New Zealand and the UK as a result of a legal dispute.
