  • @tacklebait21 Haha, you should try look up results on us!

  • haha we've all had capsizes like that

they sneak up on you sometimes... some advice though, from personal experience, and as demonstrated by the skipper, for anyone looking to start sailing hobie 16's:

NEVER sit on trampoline while flying a hull or even skimming. fairly soon the boat will be vertical and you find yourself sliding feet-first into the water with your buddie flying over your head.

spectacular, but not good in a race.

  • I didn't really know what to answer you - so you got a thomps up! But in racing it depends on waves and wind strenght. In big waves the crew must be in trapez and the skipper sitting on the tramp steering! If you feel like sliding down put the food on the little mainsheet controler.

  • Thats nuts. It doesnt even look like they have the trapeze rigged up, but awesome video. Looks like a blast

  • Oh I both wanna put thums up and down. Of course we have both trapezes rigged up. We actually had 3 rigged up in case that we would try bring over a 3 guy from the rip boat. But it was too wild.

  • @kjcornwell What are the first 2?

  • Try some twin wire broad reaches! Unconventional in a cat, but SO fun in strong winds

  • Cool

  • I'm going to get a Spi kit in the holidays and I'm from South Africa and we like hardcore 35 knots sailing full rig:P

  • @D7st It is for one hull sailing boats. But with a Kat you fall off to lower the hull.

  • Duh. Maybe let out on the sheets a bit?

  • Duh. Maybe take a class or look into why you can't you can't sail directly into the wind.

  • why do you keep falling off when the hull flies too high? I thought standard procedure was to head up to lower the hull?

  • @tacklebait21 If you think they suck post a vid of you doing better. Putting a spi (of which I am to much of a coward to do) on a 16 is like driving around a go-kart with a Lambo v12 with twin turbos and nos. You may look sloppy but you are still going faster than just about anything else. I could hope to have that skill and knowledge.

  • @tacklebait21 make a video and do it better haha
