Pablo Bruna, Tiento de dos tiples, played by Mexican organist José Suárez on the historic organ of San Jerónimo Tlacochahuaya, Oaxaca, Mexico, restored by Susan Tattershall in 1991. A good example of a "medio registro" organ piece, employing a single divided keyboard with different stops drawn in bass and treble. Recorded in 1998, Quindecim QP014. • Hello Mr. Warren, I appreciate very much your video, is a honour as Mexicans and a pleasure to see photos of the church and organ while hear Mr. Suárez playing. Best regards.

  • Thank you, Humberto, and I look forward to more of your videos of historic organs in Guanajuato and elsewhere.

  • Thank you very much for this beautiful response and such a rich gallery of images with different angles of the Church and The Organ.

I hope to hear you soon playing it. Best wishes !!

  • Thanks for the comment. I think Suárez is a fantastic organist. Most of the photos after 2:58 are by Xavier Villalpando, who was also the recording engineer. All the best.

  • Thanks very much to all of you for your coments and interest about this organ, I am from tlacochahuaya and I'm proud that we have such a treasure in our town. I was 13 when susan was doing the restauration and I remember she asked my father to find her a big bone to make a piece of the keyboard, my dad boiled the bone at home for long hrs then gave to her. All the best from los angeles,Ca.

  • It was really a surprise to find in YouTube one of my recordings and some photographs I made in Tlacochahuaya, Oaxaca.

I have some recordings made in other barroque organs, some of them not still published. I'll upload some tracks in YouTube now that I know there are people interested in the music and in the beautiful barroque instruments. Thanks again MUDWS for this surprise.

    Xavier Villalpando

  • Beautiful sound. This is vry hard to find organ music. Thanks for posting.

  • CONGRATULATIONS...

  • I have followed the story of this, and other organs in Oaxaca since Pipedreamd aired the show featuring them several years ago. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful performance, and the truly magnificent photos of the church. The organist is simply splendid as well.

Thanks you for sharing this treasure with so many of us!
