Wow voice lady, sounds like you have your own set of breathing struggles to deal with there.

Breathing through the mouth and nose simultaneously when you´re singing gives you hot air through the mouth and cold filtered air through the nose thereby forming a neutral air column which protects your throat from drying on the other hand cofee, alcohol dries up your throat because they are diuretic, drinking plenty of water also protects your throat from drying up.In singing a silent breath should be developed through the mouth and nose simultaneously Im talking ´bout the inhale..

My one contention with this advice is saying to breathe through the mouth. Deep breathing, especially for singing or speaking over long periods of time should be done through the nose as much as possible. The nasal cavity warms and moistens the air you breathe. Constantly breathing in through the mouth dries the throat and tongue. Everything else is correct.

Andre is hot!
I´ve been taught to breathe through the mouth and nose simultaneously or at the same time while singing(By really good studio singers and great singing teachers) which is the most logical aproach because the more breath support the diaphgram gets the better sound production and relaxation you´re going to get in the production of your voice, specially if you start using phonation which of course is the art of singing towards your resonance chambers.

@ARAUZ1625 Are you talking about the inhale, the exhale or both? I think it takes too much work to try to breathe through both passages at the same time. I also find it hard to do. Breathing through the mouth is much quicker and more filling than throuh the nose. By the way, you are discussing singing which is not my area of expertise. I deal with the speaking voice.

I don't teach people to breathe through their mouth except when they are speaking which is normal. To watch and listen to someone who is talking, close their mouth, inhale through their nose and then open their mouth to continue speaking speak is choppy and laborious. Everyone breathes through their mouth when they speak and sing. Of course, if they stop to answer a question, for example, they can resort to nasal breathing.

If you are speaking or singing, breathe through your mouth. If you are practicing breathing exercises specifically, breathe through your mouth. At all other times, breathe through your nose.
